Late Season Steel
The last weekend of steelhead season (for most streams) was spent running trips for fellow injured guide Kenny Armstrong. We spent the days on the eel river system and fishing was a little slow the first day. With a change of location for the second day, things picked up and we saw real steady action. While the majority of these fish were runbacks, there were a few fresh fish in the mix to keep things interesting. Since the April 1st closure, Me and some buddies have been poking around in a few spots that remain open to steelhead fishing, with great results. On tuesday, our boat managed to land a 12lb mint bright hen along with a grip of downrunners. Nice ones! Anyways, I've got a trip scheduled for April 7th and I'll let you know how it goes.
