I ran trips during the Raider Derby on Friday and Saturday. What a struggle! The Smith can really beat you down, and the last two days were prime examples of that. We had groups of four both days, two boats each day. On Friday, both boats got a fish, while yesterday there was only one fish put in the net for the two boats. Brutal! On the bright side, Humboldt county rivers are dropping into shape and should have a fair number of downrunners in them. Good luck!

Snow melt is keeping our Humboldt county rivers high and dirty at this time. However, the Smith river is currently fishing well. I was up there on March 3-5 and we hooked 17 adult fish while landing 13. The suprising thing about those three days was that about 80% of our fish were dime bright! Not bad considering this is march. I would imagine the runbacks will be pretty thick in the next few weeks along with the occasional fresh fish. See you on the river!

Well, fishing was on the slow side today, but we managed 3 adult steelhead. Humboldt County creeks will fish well until we get some more rain, which is supposed to arrive tommorrow night. Oh well. Tomorrow will look good, but past that is a bit of a crapshoot. If nothing else, the smith and chetco will continue to look prime. Good luck and see you on the river.

Sorry to those of you who visit this site for the lack of reports. That won't be the case anymore, as i've now become a computer wiz and have infinite control of these contraptions, including this blog. So make sure you check back as I'll try to update a few times a week. Enjoy, and see you on the river
